Privacy policy

Effective date:

CatTower is a free set of online tools with no accounts. This page explains what happens to your files and what data the site and its partners handle.

Files you upload

Images and documents you upload are processed in memory to make your result and are not stored. Nothing you upload is kept after the result is sent back, and files are not used for anything else.

AI features

The tools, including the idea mind map, work without AI. Only when you choose an option under “Expand the idea” is text from your document (its topic, summary and keywords) sent to the AI provider the site is configured to use, to write those ideas. Nothing is sent to an AI provider otherwise.

No accounts

There is no sign-up and no account. You don't give us your name, email address or any other contact details to use the tools.

Cookies and browser storage

  • ct_q (functional): a signed random ID that only counts your free uses of each tool. It is set once you use a feature, holds no personal information and is not tied to your IP address or browser. Free uses reset daily; the cookie expires after one year. Clearing your cookies resets it.
  • NEXT_LOCALE (functional): remembers the language you picked with the language switcher. It is set only when you use the switcher and expires after one year.
  • Admin session cookie: used only by site staff signing in to the admin console. Visitors never receive it.
  • Your browser's local storage keeps your light or dark theme and whether you closed a site banner. This stays on your device.
  • Advertising cookies set by Google are described in the next section.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

CatTower is paid for by ads served by Google (Google AdSense, and Google Ad Manager for the optional ads that give back free uses). Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to show and measure ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites.

How Google uses this information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.

Hosting, network and logs

The site runs behind Cloudflare (hosting network, CDN and tunnel), which processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Our own application and web server logs record each request (time, path, status and duration) but not your IP address or user agent. To limit abuse, your IP address is used briefly in memory, for example to cap how many new anonymous IDs one address can create per hour. It is never stored or logged.

We keep anonymous usage counts (which tool was used, whether it worked, how long it took) to run and improve the service. They contain no file contents, IP addresses or user agents.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we update this page and the effective date at the top.
