In short

CatTower's image crop tool is a free online image cropping tool that crops a PNG, JPEG or WebP image freely or to a 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 or 9:16 ratio, rotates it by 90° and flips it, and saves the result as JPG, PNG or WebP in your browser.

  • Input: one PNG, JPEG or WebP image, up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels.
  • Crop by dragging the frame or by typing X, Y, width and height in whole pixels; ratios: free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 and 9:16.
  • Rotate 90° clockwise and flip horizontally or vertically; the file is encoded once from the original, at the selected size.
  • Output: JPG (quality 60–95, default 85, transparency filled with white), PNG or WebP, named after the original with -cropped added.
  • Privacy: the image is processed in your browser and not uploaded to CatTower's servers.

How to use

  1. Drop or choose one PNG, JPEG or WebP image of up to 20 MB.
  2. Pick Free or a ratio (1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 or 9:16), then drag the frame and its handles, or type X, Y, width and height in pixels.
  3. Rotate 90° clockwise or flip horizontally or vertically if needed; the frame follows the picture.
  4. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP, select Crop image and download the file.

FAQ

No. The image is opened, cropped and saved by your browser on your device and is not uploaded to CatTower's servers. Anything else running on your device, such as extensions, is outside the site's control.

No. Every preview is drawn again from the image as it was first opened, and the file is encoded only once, when you select Crop image.

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white; the tool says so next to the button before you save. PNG and WebP keep transparency.

No. JPEG photos are turned the way the camera recorded them (EXIF orientation) when they are opened, and that upright picture is what you crop. The saved file is a new image without the original's EXIF details, such as camera data or location.

Yes. X, Y, width and height are number fields in whole pixels, so a keyboard or screen reader gives the same result as dragging. On the frame itself, the arrow keys move it by 1 px and Shift + arrow by 10 px.

One PNG, JPEG or WebP image at a time, up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels (for example 8000 × 5000 px). JPG and WebP quality can be set from 60 to 95; the default is 85.
