In short

CatTower's Add text watermark to PDF is a free online PDF tool that stamps a line of text such as DRAFT on all or selected pages of one PDF, centered, in a corner or tiled, and saves a new watermarked PDF made in your browser.

  • Text: one line of 1–80 characters in any script your browser shows, including Korean; drawn once in the system font at 4× resolution (at most 16 megapixels) and placed as an image, so it is not selectable.
  • Placement: center (default), top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right (24 pt from the edges), or tiled with at least 48 pt between copies and up to 100 per page.
  • Style: size 12–144 pt, angle −90 to 90°, opacity 10–80%, any HEX color; defaults are 48 pt, −45°, 20% and gray #666666.
  • Pages: all, or a list such as 1-3, 5. Rotated pages get the watermark where you see it. The result keeps the page count and sizes and is named after the original with -watermarked.pdf at the end.
  • Limits and privacy: one PDF of up to 20 MB and 200 pages, encrypted PDFs not supported; the file and text are processed in your browser and not uploaded to CatTower's servers.

How to use

  1. Drop one PDF or choose it. The tool reads its page count and page sizes.
  2. Type the watermark text, one line of 1 to 80 characters such as DRAFT or 대외비. Keep All pages, or choose Custom pages and enter pages such as 1-3, 5.
  3. Pick the placement (center, one of four corners, or tiled across the page), the text size (12–144 pt), angle (−90 to 90°), opacity (10–80%) and a HEX color. The preview of the first watermarked page updates as you change them.
  4. Select Add watermark and download the new file, named after the original with -watermarked.pdf at the end.

FAQ

Yes. The text is drawn with your device's system font, so any script your browser can show works, including Korean. Enter one line of 1 to 80 characters; line breaks, tabs and text made only of invisible characters are refused.

Tile repeats the text across the whole page at the chosen angle, with at least 48 pt of space between copies. If a small text would need more than 100 copies on a page, the space grows until 100 or fewer fit.

Yes. Placement and angle are measured on the page as you see it, so a watermark set to the top right at −45° looks the same on every page, whatever each page’s rotation. The page count and page sizes stay the same.

The text is added as a picture drawn over each page, so it cannot be selected or searched. It shows the document’s status, but anyone with a PDF editor can delete or cover it, so it is not a copy protection or security feature. Keep your original PDF.

No. The text is drawn and the new PDF is made by your browser on your device; the file, its name, the text and the page list are not uploaded to CatTower's servers or sent to analytics. Other software on your device, such as browser extensions, is outside what the site can control.

The tool checks everything first: the text (1–80 characters on one line), the page list (for example 5-3 or a page past the end is refused), size 12–144 pt, angle −90 to 90°, opacity 10–80% and a HEX color such as #666666. A corner placement that would leave the text entirely off a very small page is refused too. Password-protected PDFs and files over 20 MB or 200 pages are not supported.
